Grant holds a Master’s of Social Work degree, and is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers; he also holds a PhD in Philosophy. He is passionate about using the tools and insights of psychotherapy, clinical psychology, philosophy, and the wisdom traditions in order to facilitate healing and life affirming changes.
With combined experience of over 25 years as a professor and therapist, Grant has supported others in deepening their self-understanding and overcoming barriers that have kept them from building, and living, the lives they want. He uses various psychotherapies to provide clients with a better understanding of what is keeping them stuck, and skills they can use (right away) to start moving towards what they want.
Grant will provide you with an accepting and non-judgemental space where you can say important things that might be hard to say elsewhere – and will work collaboratively and creatively with you in addressing the things that matter to you and serve your interests. He understands how painful it can be when there is a gap between the life you have and the one you want, and how frustrating it can be when you don’t know how to change things, or feel like you cannot change them. He too has known this pain and frustration, but also knows that transformation is always possible. Grant will believe in you – in the transformation that you will make – and will do everything he can to facilitate this.
When not working Grant loves to write, read/study, meditate, hike, bike, swim, cook, and be with his partner and family.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
~Viktor Frankl
